About this event

πŸ” Looking for a quick and effective way to take impactful actions that will help farm animals while socializing? You're in the right place! During this call, we will focus our actions on defeating a dangerous new bill called the EATS act. We're at a critical juncture in the fight to end cruel cages. ✊ On May 11, 2023, the trajectory of our movement shifted in a monumental way: the U.S. Supreme Court upheld California’s Proposition 12. The Court’s opinion made it clear that voters and state-level elected officials have the right to ban the sale of cruel animal products such as pork from pigs kept in gestation crates and eggs from hens kept in battery cages. This decision opens the door for similar legislation across the country, inviting opportunities for new and impactful public policies. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS HISTORIC WIN IS ALREADY UNDER ATTACK. The animal agriculture industry and several Republicans, including the Chair of the House Agriculture Committee, and the top ranking Republican on the Senate Agriculture Committee, have already signaled their intention to upend the win through Congressional action. THE EATS ACT - WHETHER AS A STANDALONE BILL OR AN AMENDMENT - IS A MASSIVE THREAT TO OUR CRUCIAL WORK AND WE MUST WORK TO DEFEAT IT. ✨ Grab lunch or your morning coffee and join THL volunteers and staff for this virtual 30-minute meetup. We'll take actions using the Fast Action Network platform and any other special campaign actions that pop up. Plus, you can ask staff questions about THL campaigns! Once you RSVP you will get an email with the direct link to our event. ⏰ This virtual event begins at 12pm Eastern / 11am Central / 10am Mountain / 9am Pacific
