About this event

Billions of animals are exploited in food production and experimentation each year in the United States. While technological advancement, stronger laws, and corporate reform are important in reducing suffering, these are long-term efforts with uncertain timelines. Creative lawyering offers an immediate release valve: what can we do right now? Join Vanessa Shakib for a discussion on impact litigation and creative legal strategy for animals. Vanessa is an expert in animal law, government accountability, and illegal business practices. Her work has been featured by CNN, Fox News, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and more. Vanessa co-founded and co-directs Advancing Law for Animals, a nonprofit law firm for our nonhuman friends. There, she develops impact litigation to further the interests of animals exploited in research and food production. Vegan food will be provided.
