About this event
This workshop with author, Hope Bohanec, explores the book, The Humane Hoax: Essays Exposing the Myth of Happy Meat, Humane Dairy, and Ethical Eggs. (edited by Hope Bohanec)
This book covers the timely topics of humanewashing, greenwashing, language and labels, and explores how so-called alternative animal agriculture intersects with feminism, affects the environment, is represented in the media, and impacts human and non-human communities alike.
Humanewashing and greenwashing are becoming more prevalent and pervasive than ever. It has never been more important to educate people on the truth behind the industry lies.
Hope Bohanec has been active in animal protection and environmental activism for 30 years and has published the book The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat? She is the Executive Director of Compassionate Living and the host of the Hope for the Animals Podcast. She co-founded the Humane Hoax Project, the Ahimsa Living Project and has organized hundreds of online and in-person events including the Humane Hoax Online Conference, the Humane Hoax Chicken Webinar, the Conscious Eating Conference, and the Sonoma County VegFest. Over the last three decades, Hope has worked for the national non-profits United Poultry Concerns and In Defense of Animals and has given countless presentations, written innumerable articles, and contributed chapters to two anthologies.
