About this event

Join Compassionate PDX and a coalition of animal protection groups to support three very important pieces of legislation being considered by Vancouver Washington city government: 1. Ban on the sale of new fur products 2. Ban on the sale of foie gras (the fattened liver of a force-fed duck) 3. Ban on the sale of puppies and kittens in pet stores (adoption only) On Monday March 6th, Vancouver City Council will be holding a special workshop to learn about these three animal bills. There is no public comment period during the workshop, but packing the room with people in our special t-shirts in support will show City Council that Vancouverites care about this issue. We encourage everyone to please try to show up at least 10 minutes before the workshop or public meeting in order to change into your free t-shirt. Afterward, during the regular City Council meeting, people can sign up for a 3-minute speaking slot to testify in support of one, two or all three of these proposed pieces of legislation during the general comment period. Note: these bills are NOT going to be on the agenda since the workshop will have just happened but it is still very useful to use this comment period time to educate the city council and show support. Schedule: 5-5:30- animal bill workshop 5:30-6pm- workshop on an unrelated issue 6-6:30pm- break 6:30-8ish- City Council public meeting It is fine if you can only attend one or the other, it is not required to attend both. There is street parking and a large parking lot surrounding Vancouver City Hall.
