Animal Law Week at Lewis & Clark Law School is March 6-10th! The Center for Animal Law Studies is proud to support the Lewis & Clark Law School Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter and the Animal Law Review as they showcase dynamic speakers, in-depth presentations, and opportunities to network with other professionals. Monday, March 6 | 12:10-1:10 PM PST, Wood Hall, Room 8 Speaker event: A panel discussion about the complexities found at the intersection between Native American law and Animal law. Join us and Native American Law Students Association in Wood Hall, Room 8, for an insightful lunch talk about the important role that animals play in indigenous history and culture. Tuesday, March 7 | 5:30-9:00 PM PST Screening of award-winning documentary The Smell of Money. Join us at Smith Hall for networking with fellow advocates and plant-based appetizers and beverages. Screening followed by a live Q&A with writer/producer Jamie Bergman and Professor Joyce Tischer. Co-hosted by CALS, LC ALDF, and SEED (Students for Eliminating Environmental Discrimination). Please join CALS and LCALDF for vegan pizza and a presentation by internationally renowned animal and constitutional law professor and scholar Tomasz Pietrzykowski of the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. This event is not open to the public. Thursday, March 9 | 12:10-1:10 PM PST Meat Out: Lewis & Clark students will experience some of Portland’s best plant-based food during the lunch hour. This event is not open to the public. Friday, March 10 | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST Animal Law Review’s annual symposium. Join ALR as presenters dive into legal protections of equines.
