As vegan animal activists, we are often so focused on the overwhelming harm to non-human animals that we may have little time to care for ourselves. This self-neglect can lead to burnout and withdrawal from the movement.
Gillian combines her decades-long embodied experience as an ethical vegan and her experience as an animal activist with her expertise in trauma-informed therapy and the latest academic research to present an educational and healing workshop.
In this 90-minute workshop, you will:
- Understand the definitions of trauma
- Identify the unique factors that contribute to vegan animal activist burnout
- Recognize the intersections of individual, generational, systemic, community, and activist trauma
- Explore the links between these traumatic factors and movement sustainability
- Integrate body and mind through art expression and a closing circle
- Participate in a like-minded community
- Have fun!
