About this event

Tune in to our livestream to hear from people in the NY metro area who are making a difference with plants! Hosted by Jim Spellos, PPMNY Technology & Events Specialist, you’ll meet people creating healthy waves of change in the movement. From community organizers to chefs, it’s a chance to hear lessons they’ve learned and take away inspiration for your journey to better health. After resolving a stubborn medical issue through plant-based living, Chef Rebecca Johnson began her journey helping others enhance their lives with nutritious whole plant foods. Combining her southern kitchen roots and an appreciation for global cuisines, Rebecca brings cultural sensitivity to her work as a plant-based health supportive chef and culinary educator for children, families, and individuals. Her passion for exposing people to plant-strong foods shines bright, as does her ability to create an inviting learning environment across diverse audiences. She’s reached thousands through her work with Global Leadership Academy Charter School, Wellness in the Schools, the New York City Department of Education, Harlem Children’s Zone, The Coalition for Healthy School Food, and as Culinary Organizer for PPMNY. As PPMNY’s new Partnerships Manager, Rebecca will guide exciting health empowerment projects with local eateries, municipal agencies, and community and faith-based organizations. Rebecca earned certificates in plant-based nutrition from Hallelujah Acres and the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies at eCornell and is the founder of The Plant Rich Life. Event access is by donation or free to anyone unable to contribute. Choose the option that fits you best and join us! Registrants will receive a Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/PlantPoweredMNY and YouTube https://www.youtube.com/plantpoweredmetrony link on the day of the event. Please note that Facebook Live and YouTube streams are available to viewers with or without Facebook or YouTube accounts.
