Dr. Krista Hiddema (she/her), Our first speaker and the Executive Director of "For The Greater Good", is going to give a talk titled “Organizational Practices in the Animal Advocacy Movement” where she shares her research findings working with women vocational activists in Canada and the United States, Her qualitative feminist approach explored the experiences and recommendations of these women through their stories as a means to deepen the understanding of the FAAM’s organizational practices and suggest tools for sustainability. Krista will workshop with attendees about what might be learned and applied to the important work of animal advocacy in Asian countries. Our second speaker Jessika Ava (she/her), directs the ProVeg Grants Program at ProVeg International, will give a talk titled “Money Talks: Navigating Race & Gender Equity and Cultural Appropriateness in White Supremacy Funding Spaces.” where she will discuss how the non-Eurocentric organizations planning to fundraise from the most common animal rights movement foundations might face issues regarding race and gender equity and culturally appropriate funding opportunities. Jessika will offer a brief overview of common challenges and tips to navigate this landscape with strategy, integrity, and grace.
