Being vegetarian myself, I found that there were not many sources of protein in my diet, so I started out making my own tempeh. I realised that there were many other Singaporeans out there who experienced the same issue and wanted to solve this problem. After deciding to take my tempeh making seriously in 2019, I flew to Bogor, Indonesia, to learn how to make tempeh the authentic way from the tempeh masters. Upon returning to Singapore, I set up the business and it quickly grew from a small-scale set up into a commercial factory production. Angie's Tempeh Pte Ltd was launched in March 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
