About this event

This month's EDU Speaker Series will feature Dr. Kathryn Gillespie, author of The Cow With Ear Tag #1389, an investigative look at how the dairy industry fits into the overall animal-protein manufacturing industry. We will explore the relationships between how we exploit dairy Cows and present-day violations of human bodily autonomy and the overall reproductive justice movement. Come practice compassion towards nonhuman animals, as well as educate yourself on the intersectional nature between how we choose who humans will exploit for profit and consumption and who some chose to repress for ideological gain. Dr. Gillespie is a writer, researcher, multispecies ethnographer, and feminist geographer. She is a current Postdoctoral Scholar at the U of Kentucky and has taught numerous courses at the UW. We will host this event at the Northgate Library branch in Seattle in the meeting room. The event will also be hybrid and livestreamed via Zoom. Please register to attend virtually here https://us02web.zoom.us/.../tZAodO6upz0tGNyCBUZL-TMynDUj... Please RSVP here so we will have an idea on attendance. To Seattle Public Library is not associated with this event.
